“Technical officials are required to control all swimming competitions.”

This is the opening sentence of the Timekeeper Workbook, and encapsulates what officiating is all about.

Swimming has become a technical sport with coaches working with their swimmers to achieve the best times that they possibly can.

Officiating is also ensuring a fair and level playing field for all athletes’ in the sport from club level right through to international competition.
